I love stationery shop hopping through your posts <3 I spent a month in SF years ago, so this gives me another reason to return. Hopefully one day, I’ll get to visit some of your world recommendations too!
I used to live near Japantown so I was sad to move away from Maido and Kinokuniya, but now I’m in Oakland and Temescal Alley has a bunch of cute stationery shops!
Russian Hill bookstore is one of my favorite greeting card stores, exactly for how extensive and specific the card categories are. I still have cards I purchased there with the intent to write a very specific story to a friend …. I need to dig those out or visit them again.
I’ve been to Maido too but I need to revisit others on your list. The origami classes sound like fun.
I’m not a visual artist, I like journaling with pen and paper and writing and sending greeting cards in the mail. Do thanks for the recap.
Although its stationery section is not as robust as the others, I have been a fan of a Lola Cards in Northbeach. I like their cards. They used to have more stores, I think currently they are on Columbus Ave near Green Street in the center of the Northbeach district, and have another one at Fisherman’s Wharf area.
Love this roundup! I also enjoy Rare Device, Topdrawer, and Needles & Pens!
Just moved to SF and so excited about this list 🥹
The amount of times I have to stop myself from calling SF “the city” is incredible. (There’s ‘hella’ stationary shops 😂)
