There should be more postcards in restaurants and cafes! Such a delight to collect and a tangible way to whole the memory of a place. The rolodex is the perfect solution for your biz card collection. I'm looking for a way to better store (and display) my bookmarks... a collection that is getting slightly out of hand. Many are from the Book Depository who are sadly no longer running.
My local used book store has a wall displaying book marks they’ve found in the books that pass through. In trying to find a phot online I discovered this is common in used book shops and in libraries. Search “bookmark ephemera” or “lost bookmark display” for some delightful images.
Finding ephemera anywhere is like finding treasure! How can you NOT put them in a junk journal or in a bowl to peruse at a later date? All the bits and bobs are part of our lives- thank goodness for paper goodies!!
I actually copied your postcard album from a previous TikTok. I’m in Ireland so we don’t have as many postcards so a few of mine are from travels. I had a small collection before but had no clue how to store them/show them off.
Love the idea of a vintage Rolodex to show off the business cards!
Oh my word… little did I know I’d started my own Occlupanid collection! (never heard that term before, and just started going down the rabbit hole… oh boy!) 😂😂
I collect all kinds of ephemera to use in collages, including hang tags, wrapping paper and ribbon, string, foil candy wrappers, stamps and bookmarks. In fact, I have the same bookmark in your photo ( Monet’s poppy field). It’s always lovely when libraries and book stores give away bookmarks!
I love ephemera of all types! I have placed some random pieces in junk journals I have made. For a while, I was even using small bits to decorate envelopes when I would send someone a card for birthdays or just because. One time, I used new but random denomination stamps that added up to what was required to mail a letter. I placed them somewhat decoratively on the envelope with other ephemera but asked the post office if it was ok. The postmaster came out and said, “Ok this time but next time don’t be so creative.” lol.
This was a delight to read. The picture of your grandparents’ collection is wonderful. It’s a good reminder of why it’s important to document our collections—future generations will want to see it!

That's amazing!! I love this
Cannot express how much I love this. I’m a total paper hoarder, and I adore a collection.

My uncle, back in the 60s & 70s used to travel a lot for work and he used to collect the labels from cheese triangles.
